Be a Yocona Guide

Yocona International Folk Festival will accept guide applications for the 2008 festival scheduled for July 27 – August 3.

Serving as a Yocona Festival group guide is the international cultural experience of a lifetime. During the one-week festival, a guide stays with their assigned performance group 24 hours daily. Guides help transport groups to performances, find items they need, help plan social events, and plan and accompany groups on sightseeing trips among other tasks. Guides also may act as stage managers, photographers, emcees, amateur sound technicians and souvenir salespersons at some performances, and much more. Each festival and each group bring new opportunities.

It is an intense, rewarding week Veteran guides say ‘It's the hardest job you'll ever love.’ At Folkmoot USA, many guides begin near the end of high school and continue through college. Guides often take vacation from their year-round jobs just to work at Folkmoot.

The guide team is led and supervised by a guide director. Guides will be trained in all aspects of their job during a workshop held in July prior to the festival. Applicants must be at least 17 years old, available to attend the two training workshops, and available to work from July 27- August 3.
